What can you expect from the role?

Are you passionate about the education of our future optometrists? As an Optometry Development Manager you’ll use your experience as a qualified optometrist together with a desire to make a difference to create and deliver learning and development programmes for our pre-registration students and newly qualified optometrists .

What can you expect from the role?

As part of our professional team, you will be an ambassador for Vision Express. We’ll look to you to coach and develop our students and newly qualified colleagues in developing strong clinical skills and commercial awareness throughout their training programmes.

As well as creating and delivering development programmes, you’ll work alongside our professional development tutors, making sure we identify areas of opportunity in line with the College of optometrist’s scheme for registration.

Working collaboratively with stakeholders internally and externally, you’ll develop local professional support networks for our students, supervisors, and operational management teams throughout the transition from student to newly qualified professional.

The beauty of this role is no two days are ever the same: From visiting our students and newly qualified optometrists in store, offering coaching support and advice to promoting the role of the supervisor supporting our pre-registration offering. You’ll also develop relationships with the universities to promote the awareness of the programme we offer to students currently studying.

At Vision Express we win together, so all our colleagues have a role to play in making our customers and colleagues feel special. It is up to you to bring our brand to life and be involved in shaping our success, by working closely with your team to build a high achieving environment.

You can expect a busy but high achieving environment with a purpose, culture, and values to match, where everyone is working towards the same goal: creating joy in vision for our colleagues and customers.

About you

Alongside your professional status with the GOC or CORU, you’ll also have a background of being an  pre-registration supervisor with at least 3 years’ experience, ideally you’ll have previous experience of creating, developing and facilitating education activity. You’ll have good knowledge of the contractual and regulatory requirements of GOC registrants and be a college of optometrist member.

Given the nature of the role, you’ll have the ability to plan, organise and identify areas of opportunity in the clinical and commercial performance of our colleagues, working with them to create action plans through coaching, mentoring, and influencing.

We know you matter and that is why it is our commitment to make this a job you enjoy by recognising your achievements.. Our game changing leaders will support your career with excellent learning and development opportunities. There are limitless horizons.
